Stop & Smell the Roses

Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the world.  It means so much to me.  Lets have a little chat about the lovely phrase "stop & smell the roses".  We should also use the word "lovely" more often because well,  it's just lovely!

What does this phrase mean to you?

For me, it's all about slowing down and getting out in nature.  I honestly was never a rose kinda gal. I hated the thorns! I do however love wildflowers.  In my garden, I have roses, lilies and all the pretty flowers but last year we carelessly threw wildflower seeds in the back yard, and it looks like a little meadow.

When I'm hanging my fabrics out to dry in the summer sun, I can't help but to walk through the "meadow" and imagine I'm in some quaint little cottage with my jewerly supplies surrounded with wildflowers, lavender and life is just that simple.

I know that it's not my reality at the moment.  In 2020, I feel like I've stepped back into the 1930's and we are so divided. I know I can't escape it.  I don't want to escape it because we need to stand up strong for what we believe in.  I need to stand strong to teach my son not to hate or see color but see love and kindness and compassion.

When I need just a moment to breath, to think, to gather the courage to move forward I grow flowers in my garden, stop and make a simple bouquet and smell how beautiful they are. Someone might see a bunch of weeds, but I see something beautiful.  Something that can grown strong and beautiful in the harshest and not so loving conditions. I stop and smell the wildflowers.
